10/13/2017 Cross Edition Equivalency Support

One of the major enhancements in TES 4.0 is the ability to create cross edition evaluation tasks and equivalencies.

What does cross edition mean?

Cross edition refers to two our more courses from different catalog editions that need to be used to for an evaluation task or to build an equivalency.  These are typically used to help facilitate course numbering changes or departmental name/prefix changes.  For example, BIOL 101 was taken in the spring of 2016 and in the fall the school switched to a 4 digit numbering system.  When the lab was taken the following Fall the new course number was BIOL 1001L.  In previous versions of TES there was no way to create an evaluation task or set an equivalency to these two course.  In TES 4.0 users have the ability to switch both the send and receive school catalog editions.

Course Finder Changes

When performing an "Search All Data Sets" search in TES 4.0. users can select courses from different catalog years and create evaluation task or set an equivalency directly from the search results.

Evaluation Tracker Changes

When using Evaluation Tracker users are now presented with a dropdown menu to allow them to change catalog years for both the send and receive institution when submitting a request and also when adding/selecting an equivalent course.

Equivalency Manager Changes

When using Equivalency Manager users are now presented with a dropdown menu to allow them to change catalog years for both the send and receive institution when submitting adding or updating an equivalency.  This can be helpful if there were any changes in a course description at your institution. In previous versions of TES a user would have to end-date/delete the existing equivalency and create a new equivalency to reflect the update.
