Course Catalog Import Export

Course Catalog import and export is where School Administrators may import a new local course catalog, e.g., to override an existing catalog, or export existing course catalogs.

From the School Profile tab, select the Course Catalog Import/Export drop-down menu option:

Course Catalog import and export is a Lab area that is specific to the School Admin role (or superuser) and requires the Catalog Source field for the school you're viewing as be set to "Local" on the General Information tab:

  • School administrators can only access the Course Catalog Import/Export page in their Test environment
  • Superusers can access the Course Catalog Import/Export page in their Production environment

Import

Click the Import button () to import a new course catalog into the Lab. Importing a course catalog into the Lab is a two-step process:

  1. Choose a file to import
  • Click the Choose File button to navigate to the file location
  • Delimiter: Select the type of delimiter from the drop-down menu
    • Comma (default)
    • Tab
    • Pipe
  • Delete existing course catalog checkbox: if you wish to override the existing courses and memos that currently reside in the Lab with the new file import, click to select the checkbox

2. Validate the file

  • Click the Validate button to validate the file import against the record format

Import Failure

A failed import will alert you to issues occurring with an attempted import (e.g., courses in the import file already exist in the database) and prompt you to fix the issue.

Validation Failure

A failed validation will identify a list errors to fix, and provide export capabilities for troubleshooting.

See more detail about record format for course catalog imports here.
